Switch Accounts

Switch safely between Personal and Work accounts in each MaxLabs application.

Before you switch

Finish or stop any active task before switching accounts. This keeps one task under one billing account and prevents personal and work context from mixing.

Desktop app

  1. Select Switch account in the top bar.
  2. Choose a connected Personal or Work account.
  3. Select Add account if the account is not connected.
  4. Complete authorization in your browser.

The Desktop app does not allow account switching while an agent task is running.

Visual Studio Code

  1. Open the account menu in the message composer.
  2. Select a connected account.
  3. Choose Add or reconnect account to authorize another account.

You can also run MaxLabs: Switch Personal or Work Account from the Command Palette.

VS Code starts a separate chat context when you change accounts. This prevents messages from one account from entering another account's task.

CLI

Run /account to list available accounts.

Use these commands:

  • /account add connects another account.
  • /account 2 switches by list number.
  • /account <name> switches by account name.
  • /account <account-id> switches by account ID.
  • /account remove removes the active account from the device.
  • /logout removes all saved MaxLabs accounts from the CLI.

The CLI clears the active conversation when you switch accounts.
